The Last Time I Set Foot in a Kingdom Hall
by Oubliette insaturday, september 19th, 2015: .
earlier today snugglebunny posted a pic of today's "daily text" which is based on a paragraph from the november 15th, 2013 article.
that magazine contains the now infamous maxim: .

Thanks for being an educator, not just in the classroom, but everywhere; not just in the traditional secular issues, but in religious issues. Don't let those kids fall into the trap of organized religion. -

More on my brother... he is determined to continue his loyalty to the WT until the end... of his life, but it's obvious that his zeal to preach is gone. He is just continuing an old habit, Sunday preaching for an hour or two, attending most meetings and all the assemblies. And his more recent goals, as he indicated to me, are to stay healthy by eating well and religiously going to the gym every morning, enjoy life by spending lots of his free time with his wife, and help his two adult sons with their new enterprise in which he is investing a big chunk of money and plenty of time... but he "will never abandon Jehovah".
This is a new breed of JW's, even more strange than the previous one. It is more die-hard loyal to the borg, but more willing to attend to "Satan's temptations", and quite uninterested in doctrine.

I have become convinced that deep down, most--maybe even all--JWs are cowards.
You and me.
And yet, many will refuse a blood transfusion and die. Others will be imprisoned, even killed just for adhering to their doctrines and beliefs in absolutists regimes.
Let's review...

My brother (a well respected Jw for more than 30 years) does not say whether he believes the doctrine of this generation or not, but he claims that he does not expect that the big A will happen in his lifetime. He is 50 and got possibly 30 more years to go. I think what he is saying is that he doesn't believe it, but it doesn't matter. I actually got a confirmation of my inference when he said in a recent conversation "I will never abandon Jehovah". "Jehovah" put in the context of our conversation actually meant the borg. -

Data Dog,
I just added dislike number 10 for no other reason than you brought it to my attention so I had to scroll back to your previous comment. It was just punishment for delaying my bed time.

John Aquila,
How do you do it? I am assuming you have faded or at least not regularly attending, and yet people come to you and trust you with stuff they wouldn't trust another brother in the faith. You certainly have a knack for getting the kind of stories people want to hear. You are just like the best sellers fiction writers. You know what the public wants.

Is this a subtle clue that the leaders really see the "great tribulation" of the WT coming soon?

Half banana, prologs, lemon party,
Yes, a good part of the article seems to reflect an anticipation of events to come that they expect will result from recent and current world news related to the WT.
Yep, the money part seems to be at the front of their concerns.
They seem truly concerned about what's coming, and they want to spin it to their advantage to soften the blow.

Similarly, we cannot
expect that the future interruption in
the great tribulation will result in an
influx of new believers. Rather, it will
be an opportunity for all true believers
to prove their love for Jehovah and
give their support to Christ’s brothers.(Par. 7, page 16, WT July 2015)
The underlying message here is that the WT anticipates that new members will be close to zero as a result of the bad publicity that we have seen and will continue to see in the near future. But also, I read that they want to turn the present and future unpopularity of the WT into evidence of the great tribulation, and thus prevent a mass exodus. It's not a bad tactic, it's worked before.

Another Kim Davis inspired self-invented "gay issue"
by Simon inwhat is it about some of these self proclaimed "christians" who go seeking persecution when it don't exist?.
we've had a case locally in calgary where the initial reports sounded like the person had a legitimate claim: a bus driver didn't want to drive the bus in a gay pride parade and said he'd resign if they made him and that the local transit company was threatening him to force him to do it.. except it was all invented ... by him !.
they already proactively told him that there was no danger that he would be asked to drive that bus in the parade (i.e.

Today's Special Day Assembly Expenses and the $10,499 Deficit. Silent Majority?
by Tenacious intoday i attended a one-day assembly in my hometown.
i knew when it came time to read the afternoon expenses that it would be an incredibly high and ridiculous amount that was nowhere near the real expenses for that day.
sure enough, after lunch came the announcement.

"12 baptized (3M+9F)". Only 1/4are males. Of those three, one is quite likely to quit soon. This will be a religion composed by a women super majority, but controlled by chauvinist males.
Ladies, please explain....
